Pwn4g3!

Okay, I gave the sound a 0 because I couldn't hear it... and this was rather fun, if a little slower than I like... I didn't finish it, but it looks pretty damn solid. Good stuff! Make more. That's an ORDER, NOT a request! ;)

The speed is something I was worried about. The thing about flash is as soon as you have other flash movies open at the same time it slows everything down. Even the Newgrounds voting icon is a flash movie so it affects performance. That's why I've put in options to reduce the quality and to remove graphic layers (the DELETE and END keys). Work will start on episode 2 in about a month - as soon as we've got the next comic out of the way! It will definitely get made, since you asked so nicely! ;)

Heh...

Sad to say this, but a 250 pound hog is SCRAWNY! My granddad used to raise hogs every year for the 4-H competition, and have one of us grandsons help him bring it up. We brought home "Grand Champion" every time. My two barrows were 650+ pounds EACH. And that was AVERAGE. The only reason I won was because I had a really REALLY low perecentage of back-fat, meaning they made damn good eatin' pigs (and they got et).

The game play isn't overly challenging, but it was fun to sit around and play. I think that having the competitions give you a low amount of money again is kind of a silly idea. If you wanted to make this slightly more realistic, you could have all the hogs enter into a single competition, for which there's a small entry fee. If you place (6th to 4th) you get a small cash sum. If you show, (3rd to 1st), you get a larger amount of money. And then there's the grand champion.

Other than that, it's a fun little game :)

Oh yeah, you got a 0 for sound because I couldn't hear the damn stuff over my music, so I didn't feel it was fair to rate it if I hadn't heard it (if there was any).

ChaotixWarKid responds:

Well see, i don't raise my own pigs. I just guess, and if it was 600, then there goes continual same thing for 20 minutes. So it should've been named
"Halfway-Sim Pig"

It could've been worse...

Okay, I noticed the graphics were both blurry and slow. When I took the quality down to "Low" the graphics situation improved (making it look pixellated and more uniform), but the speed issue did not. I may just be running too slow a system, but my train of thinking says "If I can run Counter-Strike without problems, I should be able to run a Flash game without a hitch."

The programming seems decent, and you seem to have put a lot of work into this. My suggestions for the future:

Come up with your own game theme. While Mega Man has it's merits, everyone seems to love to remake classic games for Flash, when anyone else could just as easily have gone and downloaded them. Neither way is fully legal, so why waste your time?

Make your future graphics vector. Meaning don't cut and paste so damn many bitmap files. That's basically what slowed you down. Flash is awesome for it's own native graphics, but you start adding in stuff like bitmaps, you really slow the thing down.

Other than that, you get an A for effort, and a C for everything else.

More sorries. The games's supposed to be at 275x220, but it's to small on the screen to see it well so I blew it up to double. I don't know if Flash has an anti-aliasing function or so that blurs it. The speed issue was my framerate was set god awful low for some reason. The bitmap files are actually smaller than nearly all vector ones since they are very small gif's with a palette of 6-10 colors for characters and 50-75 for backgrounds. Vector backgrounds would've taken away the pixelly nintendo feel. The main about this is that I've always enjoyed Megaman games, but hate the length of time between releases so while learning this is an ideal way to get the hang of it. I can easily hop in the code and replace the sprites with all of my own and design a level in under an hour since the game engine is done now. The honesty is appreciated though.

Do not taunt the dragon, for you are crunchy and taste good with catsup!
